Encrypted SSD & NVMe

SSDs fail differently from hard drives: controller failure, unreadable NAND, hardware encryption. Recovery needs dedicated tools and know-how.

Why an SSD isn’t recovered like a hard drive

An SSD has no heads or platters, but its complexity lies elsewhere: a controller spreads the data across the NAND chips with wear-leveling and a translation layer (FTL) unique to each brand. When the controller fails or the firmware corrupts, the data is still in the NAND but becomes inaccessible and "scrambled".

On top of that comes encryption: most modern SSDs encrypt in hardware, and BitLocker, APFS or the soldered memory of MacBooks add another layer. Recovery requires rebuilding the FTL and handling the encryption — very different work from a hard drive.

Our method, step by step

01

Controller diagnosis

We identify the controller (Sandforce, Phison, Samsung…), the cause (electronic failure, firmware, NAND) and the encryption type.

02

Electronics repair / micro-soldering

We repair the circuit, micro-solder damaged components or, if needed, read the NAND chips directly.

03

FTL reconstruction

We rebuild the translation layer and the interleaving (XOR, ECC) specific to the controller to reassemble raw data into readable data.

04

Decryption & extraction

With your credentials/keys (BitLocker, password), we decrypt and rebuild the file system, then extract securely.

Our equipment

AceLab PC-3000

PC-3000 UDMA, Flash and Portable PRO — direct disk access bypassing the OS, service-area and firmware access.

ISO 5 cleanroom

Opening drives and swapping heads dust-free (Class ISO 5), without contaminating the platters.

Micro-soldering

Micro-soldering stations to restore damaged controller boards, ROM chips and logic circuits.

Why trust us with a complex SSD

SSD recovery is one of the most technical fields: every controller has its own interleaving algorithm, and without the right methodology the NAND chips return only noise. We work with PC-3000 SSD/Flash complexes and micro-soldering, in-house in Brussels.

Your encrypted data is handled on-site, in our Brussels laboratory. It is the same engineer since 2012 who handles your device, directly. Free diagnosis, No Cure, No Pay.

Frequently asked questions

My SSD is no longer detected at all — is it recoverable?

Often yes. If the NAND is intact, the problem is the controller or firmware; we repair the electronics or read the chips directly, then rebuild the data.

Can you recover a BitLocker-encrypted drive or a Mac?

Yes, provided you have the legitimate credentials (BitLocker recovery key, password, Apple ID). Without them decryption is impossible — that is exactly the purpose of encryption.

Is a MacBook’s soldered memory recoverable?

It is complex but often possible via direct chip reading and T2/Apple Silicon encryption handling. The free diagnosis assesses feasibility.
